Director Finds Right Match With Retailer

As a longtime community volunteer and 2007 graduate of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, Julie Gehrki never imagined herself working for a corporation. “Wal-Mart was not where anyone would have predicted I would be – including myself,” said Gehrki, who is now a senior director at the Walmart Foundation. But as Gehrki neared graduation, she met with Skip Rutherford, dean of the school, and he explained that corporations can be used to effect social change, Gehrki told a standing-room-only crowd at the Clinton School on Monday.
