Walmart Fort Totten Open Its Doors to the Ward 4 Community with Grand Opening Celebration
On Wednesday, October 28th, elected officials, community members, nonprofit partners and Walmart associates and executives celebrated the Grand Opening of the new 18,000 sq. ft. Walmart Supercenter in Fort Totten (store #3035). The new Walmart will bring a broad assortment of fresh groceries and general merchandise at everyday low prices to the Ward 4 community.
The grand-opening festivities included a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Bowser, Councilmember Brandon Todd, community partners and local residents, and a check presentation ceremony featuring local nonprofit partners receiving donations in celebration of the opening.
The new store allows customers to enjoy convenient on-site services such as a full pharmacy and a free store pickup service providing an easy way to shop millions of products on Walmart.com, with many items available for pickup the same day. The new store also has employed more than 400 full- and part-time associates.
Introducing Paul Hill, Store Manager at the new Walmart at Fort Totten:
DC welcomes Paul Hill! Hill is currently serving as the Store Manager of the Walmart Fort Totten Supercenter (store #3035), which recently celebrated its grand opening in October.
Hill first started working with Walmart over six years ago as an hourly associate, working in the electronics department in Harrisburg, PA. Hill’s potential was quickly recognized and he was promoted to Hourly Supervisor, Assistant Manager, then to Co-Manager. At each level of advancement, Hill’s Store Manager noticed his leadership skills and continued to foster his development, becoming Hill’s teacher, champion and mentor, a role he continues to fill today.
Hill was soon offered the opportunity of becoming a Store Manager of a Metro, Division 1 store in Alexandria, VA. While there, he continued to excel in leadership roles and was selected to be the Store Manager of Washington, DC’s newest location at Fort Totten.

In each position, Hill demonstrated his ability to learn, adapt and constantly have a great attitude toward people, the company, and customers. We are very proud to have him as a leader, on our team!
